The one-stop shop for your favorite Italian brands, Design Holding, has opened its new flagship doors in NoMad. It’s another sign that the Manhattan neighborhood, also known as Madison Square North, is becoming the Big Apple’s new epicenter for contemporary and luxury design.
Design Holding’s portfolio contains nine beloved Italian and Nordic brands with a rich heritage, each known for preserving their classic designs while also pushing the boundaries in material and function. We’ve consistently been awed by their subsidiaries: Flos, B&B Italia, Louis Poulsen, Maxalto, Arclinea, Azucena, FENDI Casa, Audo, and Lumens.

The company carefully curates their portfolio, working only with high-end brands that promote a beautiful life. Their penchant for tastemaking now translates to a move from Soho to the newly coined NoMad Design District, where they join their fellow Italian companies Florim and Minotti, as well as the furniture company ddc, surface designer COMPAC, and a leader in bathroom fixtures, Duravit.
At the splashy opening for the new Madison Avenue flagship, which is 25,000 sqft sprawled over two floors, CEO Daniel Lalonde welcomed some of the industry’s leading creatives while a live brass band kept spirits high. Among the partygoers were legendary architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, Flos designer Philippe Malouin, and Lumens designer Øivind Slaatto.

The guests roamed through each brand’s miniature showroom, which showed how seamlessly Design Holding’s brands can intermingle. On the second floor, newly designed by Lissoni Architecture New York, sconces from the Louis Poulson Eliptika collection illuminate floating walls, reflections bouncing off a stainless steel Arclinea kitchen. Tucked into an indoor outdoor space is a B&B Italia lounge flanked by Flos and Louis Poulsen lights.
There’s plenty more to discover within Design Holding. Daniel touts what the flagship has to offer.
“Our ecosystem of iconic brands excels in innovation, craftsmanship, and design services, catering to diverse needs from residential to bespoke contract projects. This space offers a captivating experience, showcasing the creativity and excellence that define our heritage.”
