Duravit’s latest collection, “Aurena,” designed by Italian designer Antonio Citterio—founder of ACPV Architects, which we visited in the heart of Milan last yearbrings a touch of understated luxury to the modern bathroom. Drawing inspiration from the Golden Ratio, Antonio’s designs offer a sense of balance and harmony reminiscent of classical Roman art.

The collection’s graceful proportions and fluid contours create silhouettes that feel both timeless and contemporary for those looking to elevate their space.

Founded in 1817 in Germany’s Black Forest region, Duravit has a longstanding tradition of honing high-level craftsmanship, often collaborating with world-class designers including Philippe Starck and Christian Werner. Antonio, a three-time recipient of the Compasso d’Oro-ADI award, also brings decades of experience to the table.

Born in Meda, Italy, in 1950, Antonio Citterio first worked in industrial design after graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1975. His architecture and interior design firm, now known as ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, was founded in 2000.

The new “Aurena” collection features a curated mix of finishes that channels both Italian sophistication and industrial modernity, making it suitable for both high-end residential spaces and chic boutique hotels. It includes all the bathroom essentials a homeowner could imagine, from freestanding bathtubs and wall-mounted toilets to sinks, mirrors with integrated lighting, and a line of versatile furniture pieces.

For Antonio, this collection is about more than simple aesthetics. We took fundamental considerations as our starting point—the idea of the spatial solution, the idea of order in the bathroom, and the idea of handling water with care,” he says. “We also wanted to transpose this experience from the hospitality sector to the private bathroom and execute it with a certain aesthetic flourish. That was the focus.”

The collection is also available in a variety of finishes, from White High Gloss to Black Matte. Stainless steel accents incorporate a contemporary flair.

At the core of the “Aurena” collection is a focus on soft, organic lines with an attention to detail—every element has a purpose within a user’s home. The ceramic sinks, for instance, are both striking and practical, with integrated dividers and generous basin space. Vanity units feature an aluminum profile with an integrated towel holder, ensuring that style doesn’t come at the expense of functionality.

Vanity units also offer a blend of open shelving for smooth access and concealed storage, helping homeowners maintain a clutter-free look. The aluminum shelving console affixed below the sink also features two centrally placed drawers for added practicality. For those seeking a more streamlined look, closed vanity cabinets with soft-close drawers are also available.

One of the collection’s standout pieces is the freestanding bathtub, made from Duravit’s new DuroCast Plus material. With a minimal yet luxurious silhouette, the tub features a beveled edge and a smooth, tactile finish. Its double backrest slope invites users to indulge in relaxation. Photo courtesy Duravit
