Plyus Furniture was founded as a brand rooted in the experiences and inspirations gathered from travels around the world.
“Some time ago I lived in India, where I was struck by the presence of cows roaming freely on the streets and the profound respect they receive from the local people,” says founder and designer Roman Plyus. “These sacred animals left a lasting impression on me, ultimately inspiring the creation of the Hoof Chair.”
According to Roman, the chair’s curved backrest is a tribute to the natural form of a cow’s hoof—its smooth, organic shape became the foundation of the design.
“My goal was to craft something pure, deeply connected to nature, much like the iconic Tabi shoes in the fashion world—only translated into furniture.”
While the idea of good luck is often associated with the horseshoe, the symbolism behind the sacred cow runs deeper—it’s about wisdom and well-being. Across cultures, the cow has long been revered as a symbol of abundance, fertility, and protection.
“With the Hoof Chair, I wanted to create a piece that brings a sense of warmth and prosperity into the home,” he says. “A pair of armchairs and a sofa naturally become the heart of a living space—a gathering point for family and friends, much like the comforting ritual of tea shared in the evening.”
