Take a Seat at the Pink Cabana’s Colorful Desert Oasis

Guests dining in the Pink Cabana at the Sands Hotel & Spa are transported to another time and place from the moment they slide into a pink booth. The space is a modern take on the tennis and racquet clubs of old, with a bit more color and decadence, according to Mollie B. Casey, director of food and beverage at Sands Hotel & Spa.

“If we did our job, guests should feel all the glamour and vibe from the great country clubs in the ’50s and ’60s,” Mollie says. “That was a unique and distinct era in the desert when celebrities and locals gathered at the best clubs to socialize.”

And given its location just steps from Coachella, there’s no telling who may walk through the door. The property’s new design aesthetic—the vision of renowned interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, who’s worked on everything from Château Gütsch in Switzerland to Chef Rick Bayless’s flagship Red O restaurant—reflects his Moroccan-inspired influence as well as the mid-century vibe of the desert. “There are very few designers in the world who are able to bring in so many different elements into a space to create something special,” Mollie says. A rich, jewel-toned palette accents the dusty rose backdrop of the building’s reimagined exterior, and the restaurant itself is dominated by pink and emerald greens with polished brass fixtures. “It truly shines and sparkles and provides guests with a lot of eye candy.”
